International Film Festival of Panama Invites the United States to its 2016 Showcase!

Monday, December 7, 2015

The International Film Festival of Panama invites filmmakers from the United States to submit their feature films through our open call, to last until December 22nd, 2015.

The fifth edition of International Film Festival of Panama will take place on April 7-13, 2016, and will feature special celebrations of the festival’s first successful lustrum. IFF Panama already enjoys a privileged place in the Latin American festival circuit, thanks in part to its strong international presence and a consolidated platform for both global and regional exposure.

Directors and producers are invited to nominate their films, which must run feature-length -- 60 minutes or longer -- and must have finished production no earlier than 2014. IFF Panama will accept nominations for works of fiction, animation, experimental films and documentaries which have not been publicly screened in the Republic of Panama. All submissions are free.

In last year’s edition, IFF Panama screened revered American films “Whiplash” and “Citizenfour,” as well as a dynamic array of co-productions with Latin American countries, which highlighted pressing subjects and unearthed unique stories. For 2016, IFF Panama seeks to continue to foster its relationship with American cinema.

The significant number of films (115) submitted during IFF Panama’s 2015 open call highlights both filmmakers’ growing interest in this young Festival and its rising international prestige. Only 60 to 70 films are selected for screening by IFF Panama.

We look forward to receiving your submission.

All terms & conditions and instructions for submitting film material to IFF Panama can be found on the Festival’s official website here.
