DIRECTOR JOHN ASHER´S INSPIRING AUTISM DRAMA ‘Po’ STARRING CHRISTOPHER GORHAM AND JULIAN FEDER MAKES RED CARPET WORLD PREMIERE AT INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL OF PANAMA ON APRIL 10

Monday, April 4, 2016

Inspiring autism drama ‘Po’, directed by John Asher (Somebody Marry Me, Diamonds) will make its World Premiere at the International Film Festival of Panama (IFF Panama) with a red carpet event on April 10th and a second screening on April 11th. The film stars American television celebrities Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs, Ugly Betty) and Kaitlin Doubleday (Empire), along with newcomer Julian Feder (Weiner Dog franchise) in the title role and was scored by the legendary composer Burt Bacharach, whose late daughter had Asperger’s Syndrome.

Immediately following the premiere on April 10th, stars Christopher Gorham and Julian Feder will join director John Asher for a special Q&A event.

Based on a true story, ‘Po’ shares the story of David Wilson (Gorham), a single dad with the sole responsibility of caring for his 10-year old son with autism Po (Feder), after his wife falls victim to cancer. Struggling to deal with life after Mom, they each begin to withdraw into their own worlds. David is overwhelmed by a high pressure job, while Po escapes being bullied by drifting into his magical fantasy world. Po’s caring therapist Amy (Doubleday) does her best to keep the family together, as the mounting challenges of single parenthood of a special needs child threatens to separate David and Po permanently.

The cast also includes Bryan Batt (Mad Men), Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), Caitlin Carmichael (300: Rise of an Empire) and Brian George (The Big Bang Theory) in this original script penned by Colin Goldman, from a story that Goldman and Steve C. Roberts developed.

Asher, whose own son has autism, is excited to be sharing this inspirational story with the world, adding “We are honored to be part of IFF Panama and among such respected international actors and filmmakers. We also hope that ‘Po’ can progress awareness, understanding and acceptance of autism in Panama and all of Central and South America.”

‘Po’ will continue on the festival circuit in the U.S. during National Autism Awareness Month making its North American Premiere at the Palm Beach International Film Festival on April 11th, WorldFest Houston on April 16th, Newport Beach Film Festival honoring Burt Bacharach on April 23rd, closing night at Albuquerque Film and Music Experience on April 24th, and the Arizona International Film Festival on April 26.
